erm, my uncle has just ripped apart his v6 mk1 cortina, and has opted to change his management from the omex 600 to megasquirt (i have no idea why)..
what would be involved in getting the omex to run alongside my standard ecu?...is there a base map i can download for a c16xe?...or is it alot more complicated?

you could propley cut the standard loom, and wire in to the omex ecu loom

thats basicly what im doing with the megasquirt, just wiring into the c16xe loom

thats what im using anyway! alot cheaper than all these others, and surpost to be quite good, loads of websites to read up on stuff

you want v2.2 spart n extra, not the newer v3, you will find more people use v2.2 (its better, but can't remember why!)

id rather buy a fully tested one - main cause of these failing is dry joints! which also fuk the engine (injector driver = runs lean, goes bang!)

omex 600 will be easy to wire in, just a case of cutting and connecting the correct wires.

needs to be mapped properly though, also the icv is a pain to get working correctly with aftermarket management, best to just disable it.

with megasquirt it would be best to use the version 1 ecu with the version 3 pcb, with the embeded MsNs extra firmware, and with an extra ignition driver to use the original coil pack to run wasted spark, generaly costs around £265 with these options (built and tested) pretty much any engine should run and idle with the map that come pre-set on the megasquirt, but will need tunning to get running right, ideally you need a wideband to set this up easier, and use the auto tune feature. i'm gonna crack on in a min and finish off the loom for my mates megasquirt for his xe, hopefully get it running in the next few days!! i have maps for c20xe and c20let (1bar)
