Right this is on my S40 T4

IS it ok and cause no problems cutting say maybe 2"'s off the original length of the shaft?

At moment I think it sits was too high and would be alot more comfy if it was a bit lower down...

Think it will be fine but thought I would check

if its off the top i dont see any problem other than the gaiter being a bit squashed down, cant say ive ever seen the inside of a s40 though so dont take my word on it

Also make sure that can attach the knob as well on the cut section. Difficult its a screw fit.

Getting new gear stick gaitor and handbrake boot anyway...

If I take say 1 1/2 - 2" shouldn't be a problem for screwing knob on..Purchasing new knob and handbrake handle too..

Just spent about 2 hrs today totally butchering to get old ones off
