whats differnce between the 1.4 spi 8v 65bhp engine and the 1.4 mpi 8v 82bhp engine?

ECU/loom is different due to MPI, so inlet is different too

exhaust?
cylinder head?
Cam?
Bottom end the same?

reason im asking is because might be getting a SRI needing in an engine, so wondering weather i could just fit a 1.4 SPI engine and bolt on the MPI manifolds?

The SPi motor is 60bhp.

Heads different, cam's different, block's different.

You could use a SPI block and bolt on the Mpi head/top end etc.
Also need crank sensor/bottom pully etc too as some spi's dont have a crank sensor.

worth checking the local scrappy! i got my MPI out of a 5 door LS! shopping mobile but some o the 5 doors come with the mpi engine

would save a lot of hassle swapping parts over. that was my logic anyways

IIRC Spi will look like a carb engine on the inlet side & mpis will have 4 injectors running into the inlet manifold. HTH

C14SE has a very good head and IMO is a stonking little engine for what it is.

They are.

I actually preferred my C14SE to my X14XE, it was a better car to drive, engine felt stronger, the C14SE had done 88k, the X14XE had done 9k when I first had it.

Yes 8v's have more low down pull and mid range, and a lot better throttle response( the 16v's 40ft inlet tract doesn't help that, lol)
16v more topend tho.

And ye, they do seem to last forever and never break, on most even if cambelt goes fit a new belt and it'll be good as new, lol.
