I think nimh are a bit cheaper but unless you use them warm off the charger they are not as good a performance as nicad. I'd just go with nicad, will be cheaper to find a charger for these anyway.

I fly model planes and have nimh in the transmitter and nicad in all the planes......seems to work well

Ni-MH are much much higher capacity than Ni-CADs are.

Most Ni-CAD AA batteries are around 700-800mAh, Ni-MH ones are up to 2700mAh now. If it something that needs good power/battery life then Ni-MH are a million times better. I wouldnt consider Ni-CADs at all these days.

But you're talking about the packs - you can easily make up a high capacity nicad pack if you use the right cells....

I'd just stick with nicads mate.

You'd still struggle to get anywhere near the capacity Ni-MH offers, and you'd have classic Ni-CD draw backs like the memory effect if you dont fully dischage the calls every so often. The only downside to Ni-MH batteries is that they have a slightly higher discharge rate than Ni-CD batteries do, but if your using the batteries not too long after you charge then (within a few months of charging) than they are much better.

Its like going to buy a new car but then asking for a less powerful more fuel hungry engine from 20 years ago in it instead of a nice new engine. Theres no real reason you'd do that.
