over about 20,000 miles my only problem was the headgasket, and the egr got sticky (made it sound like a V8 until the oil had warmed and was flowing through) - can of engine flush and fresh oil sorted that though.

Garages know people need the head gaskets done on cars and that its an important job so they charage stoopid prices i think
Maybe £400.

If its an c14se engine or any other 8v then i would say get a haynes and do it your self will cost about £70 with cam belt and full gaskets bolts and what nots
