There is a large lips on my discs on my 1.6 sport (standard 256mm brakes), so i guess they need replacing (looking at the size of the lip, its ruddy huge)
questions:
a) where to get them from (vauxhall or just a motor factors?) + approx price
b) should i replace the pads at the same time? don't think they need doing for a bit tbh
c) is it worth upgrading? they stop fine as it is, never lock up (apart from the back)
or are there any brands i should look at instead of vaux o.e.m?

a) motor factors - between £15 and £20 per disc, plus about £14 for pads.
b) yes do the pads at the same time as the discs, regardless of wear - better safe than sorry
c) easiest upgrade is fitting ATE brakes from a 2ltr vaux, but tbh the standard jobbies will be fine unless your doing plenty of harsh braking & ragging about.

you will have push the pads back to get new discs and pads on so i wouldnt worry about pulling them off.
option - c as paul said if you can afford

ok, cheers chaps!
are there any brands for a couple more quid worth getting?
or should i just stick with vauxhall? should be able to wangle a trades discount from a vaux place, so will have to see how expensive they are.

jeez! nuts to them then!!!
are normal cheapish ones from motorfactors usually ok? never bought any discs or pads before, probs cos i do engine braking mostly so they don't wear quick lol.

vaux are nothing like £90+ they are less than that retail.
I would recommend genuine vaux stuff tbh and as said change the pads at the same time!

ok, i'll get my step dad to go to vaux place (he's got trade card), and price them up
how much you reckon it'd be ainsley for discs and pads?

another question:
are the discs & pads for the GSi the same as the 1.6 sport? bearing in mind my sport doesn't have abs?
seen some uber cheap ones on here:
http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/
like £45 for 2x discs and 4x pads

Yes they are the same, its the rears which are different between abs and non-abs models.
