on starting the car theres loud thumping (not knocking) which wears off after a minute or so.
Im thinking these are my big end bearings as so to speak if you get me. in turn i reckon this is slowing the car down as the bearings arent working as they should.
Am i right? Because if i am i have 800 to spend on a bottom end rebuild

800 should do it easily if you do it youself. Are you going t take the head off and do the rings while your at it?

i was thinking of doing it myself, or getting a freidn i know who grasstracks to do it Will be putting some ARP's in it and steel rods. Rest standard stuff.
not sure about rings etc.
if not i'll save a grand and get a company to do it.

make sure you measure the crank and get the journals polished or reground and buy bearings to suit.

and check the bores. May need honening
