Proxes are an ok tyre, but they WILL wear out in a month of hard driving.
go for some eagle F1's

i drive mines hard up a wee farm road twice a day and my proxies have lasted me six months, swaped them to the rear as they still had about 6mm tread on and put new proxies on the front, grip is pretty good from them in the wet and dry

I made a set of toyos last for 4k once. Usually get about 8k from them
Good Years seem pretty good for me, worth every penny for grip/wet/lasting and they get a pretty hard time.

Agreed with Phil, had both Uniroyal Rainsports and Goodyear Eagle F1's and prefer the eagles.

i had proxes, very good tyres, felt a lot safer in the rain (less aquaplaning etc) than my budget directional ones.
plus once they'd got a few hundred miles on them they felt a lot more solid in the dry (steering doesn't go light round corners as much as budgets)

put them on the front at around 115,500
changed them to the back at about 122,000
just now on 123,500 or there abouts and still plenty of life in them

ok i reckon im gonna go with the eagles seeing as there a quid cheaper from what ive read here and else where seem to last a fair bit longer and still give decent performance
