Right, I have a 1.7 Diesel Envoy 3 door Corsa on a 99 plate. I want to keep it looking standard on the outside, bar the wheels and some lowering springs, but want to create a street sleeper.

So with the above in mind, how much would I be looking at for a full 2.0 16V Calibra Turbo engine conversion?

Or is there a much cheaper alternative with slightly less power?

Thanks for any replies.

amuch cheaper alternative would be a c20xe, only 50bhp down, and engine usualy only cost 1/4 of the price

T engine + gearbox + ECU + wiring 1300
Mounts + shafts 350
Exhaust 300
Intercooler + pipework 2-300

Those are your main parts, on top of that you have to think about bigger brakes, suspension, slimline fan and any other parts you will probably replace when doing the conversion (seals, gaskets etc).

So if your going to do the turbo conversion yourself I reckon your looking at 2-3K

Roughly 200bhp standard

Like Ste says, a lot cheaper doing the XE conversion. They go well enough in a Corsa and will last all day long.

XE engine + ECU +Loom 300
Mounts + shafts 350
Exhaust 250

And then your other consumable parts. Both conversions can be done cheaper than what I have said there BTW. I have just looked at using the proper conversion parts.

Rouhgly 150bhp standard

Thanks for the replies.

New to Vauxhall and engines, am I right in saying the LET is the calibra 2.0 16V turbo engine and the XE is the 2.0 16V non turbo?

Going to go for the 2.0 Turbo option, as I reckon a 200 bhp corsa will fly

Found a company called V-tuning, so going to have a word with them on prices also. But thanks I now know what sort of price I'm looking at

Anybody rate V-tuning?

Cheers

got a quote of vtuning, they want 3.5k to just put the engine and box in and wire it up, then you got to pay for exhaust, brakes and suspension seperatly. also if you want a full re-coned engine your looking at 1k extra

best place ive found so far is JNC racing they want 3.5k for driving the car in as a standard corsa or nova and driving out with ether the XE engine or LET engine with all brakes suspension and exhaust done for you. i am still waiting for a call from the head guy there to tell me how much he charges for doing a full re-build Let engine.

other than that anyone know anywhere i can get this doen by a company for less than 3.5k?

Diesel yes mounts are total differant aswell as you need to change the fuel tank as the diesel will not have a pump.

i'll have to save this on my pc and get back to you hen i have the cash... where are you situated?

oh and do you have to strengthen the chassis for this conversion as it obviously was only designed to cope with at most a lil pop pop engine?

why do you actually need a whole conversion kit anyway if you just get a RH mount and late cav cv's using corsa 22 spline shafts, it would be much cheaper, or is it just piece of mind?

just piece of mind, im sure i could do all the work myself and be very happy with it, but for one i dont ahve teh time for two i dont have the space and three some of the things i really dont have a bubble about, like wiring or any form of welding to be done. im just your typical moder day mechanic only been trained to replace things never fix them (i hate modern cars they suck)
