Hi all,

Am going to start buying parts for the XE/LET engine for conversion soon.

I just like to know if the sensors are different at all for the C20XE or the C20LET Because if they are it'll determain which one i go for!

And also are other parts like the powercap etc different for both engines or the same?

How would different sensors play a part in which engine you go for??

Well say if the sensors are different for the XE as for the LET, i'll have to know which engine i want as to get the correct sensors for the engine that aplies etc

Like air flow sensor, fuel injection system sensor, crank sensor, all those

When you buy an engine for a conversion, all the sensors should already be on there.

Have you done any reading up about fitting an XE/LET???

Well ive contacted a company that does it and they said engine, sensors etc etc so i naturally assumed they were all seperate but you had to plug them in when engine was installed etc lol

Have done reading up here and there and do have a manual but naturally i won't be able to install it myself as don't have a garage or the technical knowledge etc

Saved me alot of hassle though! Cheers

Right....I get what you mean.

So, if you source the engine you need to make sure it has all the sensors needed. Sensors can vary from engine to engine. This shouldn't affect what engine you go for. You should be thinking of insurance costs, running costs, costs to do etc.

Just wanna make sure when i source the engine that its got all new ones like and i won't have any probs like!

So their the same for both then yea?

Ive got one quote on the to-do list, £1500 for the XE or £2000 for the LET if i supply everything to get it up and running etc they''ll do the rest.

Gonna look into insurance after im 21 as i'll have 1NCB then so should be able to take it on the chin really! lol

buy a complete engine with loom+ecu+box and it should come with the sensors.

No their not.

Why don't you decide on which engine you want and then replace the sensors?

Ah i wuld abso luv to get my hands on that, as it's got a re-build history , but i fear it be to early yet for me, theres few things i need to do first anyway like coilovers and brakes and a few cosmetic bits before i go ahead with an engine conversion like.

Shame really as that one seems in a awesome condition !!

Which is why i needed to know, now i know they don't share the same ones i know now that i have to decide which route i will go down before i start buying the parts etc.

I really would do some research first mate, if your first question your asking is this.

Fair play you may not be too genned up on conversions, but dont just go to one garage they will see this lack of knowledge and have your pants down imo.

XE is VTS spec virtually
LET is faster and more expensive to run

Doesnt matter wat you do with sensors if there new or not

ur 90% chance that it will break down quite often,

i would suggest worrying about havinga tight block and a strong bottom end before u do the conversion

sensors are cosmetic

Difference in the two engines are:

- Turbo / manifold
- Throttle body
- Top hat
- Airflow meter
- Pistons
- Camshafts
- Valve springs an platforms
- Hot start valve
- Air temperature sensor
- ECU
- Loom
- Amal valve
- Oil feed and return tapped into the block

No doubt a few others I forgot at the moment but everything else is the same. Also the cost of buiding a LET out of an XE would cost about the same in parts so you may as well buy a complete LET.

think of it this way.

LET will cost a lot to insure.... (well i say that but im getting one insured for £836 tpft)
they cost more to run as in petrol, and will be expensive if they go wrong.. aka if you spank the tits off it all the time expect this t happen.
Good point about them are they are bloody quick, easy to modish and make that phtssss sound we all love..

XE on the other hand are cheaper all round really, but same applyed if you thrash them silly.

now the choise is up to you......

(normaly find XE's are cheaper to install than the LET's)
