I have a Corsa B 1.2 8v 1995 that since using fuel treatment in, doesnt start from cold...

I put 300ml of treatment to around 35L fuel (should have put in with 45L as reccommended, but didnt)

Anyway...When you turn the key, the starter motor spins, but it sounds like theres no compression as it turns really quick.

There is a spark, but when Ive had a look at the plugs in the past, they are all wet and some are black (overfuelling?)

Ive taken the box that sits over the injector/carb and opened the throttle, looked down into it and theres a pool of petrol

Ive done a paperclip test which showed up no problems...done with just ignition on, not running car.

When it does run...does randomly start now and again...it runs fine apart from a noisy water pump. Sometimes it runs a bit fast which would suggest the auto choke is sticking on or maybe the idle control valve. When I get it running, I can use it through the day, stopping it and starting it here and there.

Ive been told these symptoms are a Crank Sensor? ...where is this located on the 1.2 8v please?

In troubleshooting so far, Ive changed the plugs and leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm...changed all these as part of a service

Any help appreciated as the car has been doing this for a month and is really unreliable now...my boss is kicking my ass!

I'd run the fuel out and put some V-Power/BP Ultimate in it. It's clearly not liking the fuel additive you've given it if it's only started doing it since then...

I thought putting higher ron fuel in a car as low powered as this would royally fcuk it up...would just putting standard petrol in do the job? ...perhaps a topup would weaken the mixture of additive I have in there now?

Redex...

I have it starting at the moment, and its running well...as it should.

Ive put a can of unleaded in to try and weaken the mixture left in there, but who knows if it will start tomorrow.

Is there a service manual or troubleshooting guide I can download somewhere? ...would the EPC give me any troubleshooting info?

Is there a crankshaft sensor on the 1.2 8v then as Torsa G has asked?

If there is and there was a problem with it...wouldnt I get a ECU fault reading back from the clip test?

There is a sensor there...it has a single blue wire connected to it...but the guage of the cable or the point where the cable connected to the sensor doesnt look like either of those...

It started pretty much first time this morning, so will leave it the rest of the day and try again later...now Ive put fresh petrol in, the mixture may be a little weaker??
