Hi all, R-reg X14XE
Say 80% of times starts bang on. Up to 1500RPM then a nice idle at just under 1000RPM
Though sometimes it starts and it sluggishly climbs from 200RPM to just under the 1000RPM
Im thinking it maybe the spark plugs? Though had it services last October so i wouldn't have thought.
Any ideas anyone?

hot start, do u get a like a fan sound when it does this, it will be the sai pump (secondary air injection) to be honest u would be better of disconnected as they arent needed in this country,
its the big black thing in front of your battery

Nah its not the SAI. Its generally random when either hot or cold it struggles to fire sufficiently like at times. Wonder if it could be over fuelling maybe?

awww what! That sounds technical to me!! lol
Anyway, Think the replacement of the airflow sensor could solve this?
How much on average do they cost?

At a garage ive herd is about £291 [dont quote me tho]
Also the longer u leave it the worse it gets [my m8s cars pretty fucked]
Buy u can pick 1 up from a scrap yard for next too nothing £8-30
Then its just a case of undoing a screw and replacing the part
Bt i cannot be sure this is the problem...
I think the automatic choke could not be letting enough air in when the car is starting so it takes a while to start up properly
What car is it??

yeah nath is right it does sound like the choke isn't letting enough air into the fixture for it to fire properly, get it done ASAP because it will grind you car down.

Damn both are highly possible, would it be worth cleaning out the sensor perhaps first and see what effect it has?
But if it was to be left, what could happen overtime??

Spoke to autovaux. Apparently the X14XE doesn't have an airflow sensor??
Forgot what he said it was but something along an air temp sensor or sumin?
