i cant make anything of this tried a heap of things,
basicly the cars idiling at about 1400 rpm on cold start and when its heated up idle generally around 1100-1200 if its had a good run and it is absolutelly drinking fuel, averaging about 95-100 miles to 20 quid of fuel
i had a look for air leaks and cant see anything, only thing i could think of was the air temp senor on the inlet pipe, was disconected with a resistor in it when i got it, i pulled it out and connected it up,
where does that wire go?? any chance that sensors not working,
and also thought it could be something to do with the automatic choke, staying on or something,
any ideas, really cant afford to run it with this badly fueling
oh and its running major rich on fuel, pops and bangs like hell and stinks of fuel
and before anyone says it, new fuel tank and filter a month back and checked all pipes no leaks, and had it on a diagnostiics and the lamba sensor is working fine so i dunno what it could be
anyone got any sujestions

its possible the water temp sensor is not working as it should and there could be a split vacume pipe raising the idle speed

i got the upper inlet off, having a look to see what i could see
water temp sensor?? wheres that, why would that affect the runnin of the air fuel mixture?
i cant see any cracks on the vacums or air pipes theres some gunk on the throttle body though

coolant temp sensor will affect fueling yes and is found on the side of the thermostat, mate of mine was having a fast idle problem recently found it to be the tube between the upper inlet manifold and throttle body was split
