basically as u know manifolds get really hot whats that white tape people put around it and wer can u get it from,

Manifold wrap, demon tweeks do it. It keeps the heat to stop it escaping and getting into your engine bay.

Manifold wrap is useful on big block convertions in tight engine bays

Heat is never a good thing when it come to engines?
All engines run better when cooler?

It does lower the heat in the engine bay, however heat is good for another reason. The technical reason that i'm after.

Ceramic coated manifolds are the way forward



Same idea, keep heat in the pipes where you want it, not in the rest of the engine bay

keeps the hot gasses in an expanded state, thus increasing velocity...also helping the cylinder scavage rate
