First i noticed the oil light coming on now and then while driving, it seems to go on when im not revvin the engine.

Then i noticed locks of hair coming from my exhaust which i was told i need a new back box.

I put a litre of oil into the engine but still the oil light comes on... are these two related?

Please help me before i fork out to get this problem fixed.

have you used the dipstick to check how much oil u have in your engine? when was the oil last changed? not just topped up.
also sounds like your baffle has come apart but the 2 wont be related

oil was probably changed about 4 months ago

sorry for the delay in replying. I cannot remember the name of the oil i was using but it wasnt the cheapest. 10 40 for petrol engines or something it was the right stuff.

I checked dipstick and theres alot of oil in it but I just bought a 2 litre bottle of Tesco own brand oil to keep in the car just incase.

The car will also cut out if it gets too hot and the revs are low so ive wired the fan to under my steering wheel so i can start the fan manually.

Someone said to me there might be a small oil leak or the head gaskets gone... how would i check?

Oil switch... £30 it cost me... all sorted.

Backbox will probs still need replacing though. The car still sounds normal and i have not noticed any increase in petrol usage.. Will this happen at all?

you paid £30 for an oil switch... I only paid a fiver for mine :S
