Im trying to fit my sabelt harnesses before trax, but im having problems fitting on the transmission tunnel side. Where do they mount to ?

Any help would be good.

Sam. There is a point where the rear seat belts go and a mounting point next to the doors. As for the one on the other side, im still trying to find out.

Transmission tunnel side is on the subframe normally, if not you'll need a mount welding in on the transmission tunnel.

UVCorsa, if it's just for normal road use you'll be wanting 3 or 4 point which have a lap belt and shoulder straps. With 3 points the shoulder straps come together behind the seats and go to one mounting point at the back, usually where the rear seatbelt anchor point is, 4 points go to 2 seperate anchor points in the back.

If it's for track and you want more security there are 5 and 6 point harnesses, both like the 4 point but the 5 has 1 crotch strap which goes through the seat base and is mounted underneath the seat. The 6 point has 2 crotch straps.

So unless it's an all out track car I'd say you want 3 or 4 points.

Just for reference I've got Willans 4 point harnesses with 2in shoulder straps, 2in lap strap with 3in spreader

Spot on, you need to unbolt the subframe to get at the bolt, then just bolt your harness in bolt the subframe back down and job's a good'un

No worries mate, there's 2 bolts at the back of the subframe, the sill side one is covered by the pretensioner cover trim. That's held on with a couple of torx screws (around t20 I think) then it just clips off and you'll see the subframe bolt going into the floor then on the transmission tunnel side the bolt goes through the back of the runner. The subframe bolts are again torx bolts about t40 or t45 I think. Unbolt those 2 then the subframe tilts forward and slides forward slightly to remove it.

Be careful with the subframe bolts as it's quite common to round them off due to the bolts seizing

mike, thank you very much for the help.. however, when mentioning the 3/4 point harnesses being installed to the seatbelt anchor in the back seats, if you had a 3 point harness, what about a 4 point? Does it go too two seatbelt anchors or how?

Any chance of a few pics on how yours is installed?

Much appreciated with the help & richard, what sabelt harnesses do you have?

Cheers again, sam.

I have 3 point.

Just went out to try and unbolt the rear of the subframes to fit my harnesses, only to find that they are rounded off.

Not happy

4 points go to the 2 lower rear anchor points, so it's in the centre where you'd normally clip the seatbelt into and on the outside where the actual seatbelt bolts down. I'd post a pic but I haven't got any interior pics with the harnesses
