Luckily I'd tightened up (quite well lol) all nuts, but on the last locking wheel nut the key has just snapped! Literally just fitted new wheels typically and wanted double check they're tight. It's a 3 pin key.

So basically I know I need to get this sorted asap...

The locking wheel nuts I think are original vauxhall ones and were on the car (bog standard) when I got it, theres a pic below. I'm wondering can I get a key like this?

Or what are my options if not and this key is somehow unique? I really hope it's an off the shelf key though!

Am I likely to get the same ones though? As will remove and bin the old nuts if I can get a matching key/set and few new bolts too lol

It should have a number on the key, take it to vauxhall and get them to order you a new 1. Failing that just hammer a socket over the top of the lock nut and remove them, put them in the bin and buy a new set

Good stuff in theory lol

Say I get to lend a key if I nip vauxhall, I've got some spare bolts for now.. just normal ones.

Am I ok undoing the locking nuts whilst car ISN'T jacked up and banging some new bolts in? Whilst all the other 3 are tight?

Cheers peeps

Yeah that will be fine, just put new bolts straight in. If you can't get hold of a tool, that type aren't that hard to remove.

Oh and they are unique, the pin spacing is different on different keys.

Stupid question aswell... just how tight should wheel bolts be?

I used to use a little spider brace (draper one) and do them as tight as my weak self could manage lol...

I got a kinda extendable/telescopic brace now and they seemed to still keep going a bit when extended (but clearly tight). Also used this on the locking bolts.

So today I thought I'll go see how tight they feel with the spider brace as it's smaller, less leverage and I can't budge them really so at least I know they're tight, but think tis my fault I bust the key. You should see the state of the nut it was in, right mess haha.

Just wondering if I've done them *too* tight?
