When the car has been left for a few hours, or over night, i turn the car on and there is a noise coming from near the dashboard area.
the noise sounds like a trickling water sound but once the engine has been on for about 30-45 seconds.
does anybody no what this is?

I get it as well, I don't think it's anything to worry about...
As for the explanation, fuck knows!

Bleed the cooling system and use new coolant and try again.

Aye, happened when i had airlock too.
I just took my header tank cap of, turned the engine on and let it run for 10mins. Put the cap back on and turn it off. Took it for a drive and it was fine again

I occasionally get this. Seems to have gone now. Car never overheats though which is symptoms of airlock.

You've got an airlock.. let the engine warm up, remove the coolant header tank cap and squeeze the heater matrix hoses.
