Just got an email from my gf, a bird at her work has a 1.4 corsa and says the following is wrong...
"What Happened:
Car left in gear, went to start it and jilted forward and would not start
Checked:
Checked the fuel – OK
Checked water pump at base of engine and was leaking
Water low
Checked spark on all 4 plugs – OK
Checked timing was ok
Faults Found:
Pressure on pistons3, piston 50% one 70% should be 125%
Thinks head gasket may have gone and no water in oil?????"
What do you guys think?
I have asked for more information so will add to it as i find out!
Cheers!

i would think the low on water issue would be the fact it apparently has a leaking water pump?

I agree there, but aside from that, would you guys consider those symptoms to be that of HG failure, i.e. failure of the water pump leading to loss of water and general overheating of the engfine itself?

well yes...if your water pump isn't doing it's job, your engine gets no coolant, and then heats up!
it's most likely in this case not headgasket from symtoms described!

Cool! That was one of my thoughts too!
i will get the gf to ask her friend to see if there are any other readings or if anything else has been done!
Still waiting on more info about the car and its problems

if its just the water pump dont worry about the head gasket being dodgey for now anyway jsut dont let it boil over if it gets hot... it may last a few months more then you could kind out that the head gasket will be gone
