has stopped working recently, is it new fan switch time?
if so is that the one that screws into the bottom of the rad.

I'd say so, same thing as me. New switch is about £7 iirc.

EDIT: try a bent paperclip in it to see if it's working first. Just bend it so it's in a 'U' shape that can slot in the two holes in the switch (with ignition on) and the fan should come on. If it doesn't, it's something more than the switch.

as above, also mine stopped worked because a build of shite at the bottom of the rad so it blocked the sensor

If you mean have it on all the time, all it does is ensure that your car doesn't heat up on a 0*C morning.

Meaning you can't rev past 3k.

no it doesnt mate. Youre forgetting that it's the oil which needs to warm up not just the water, before you can start booting it

oil temp gauge or if ya dnt have one rule of thumb go with ur gut
