Looking at a new laptop. No real budget - the cheaper the better.

Will be required to run the following:

Visual Studio 2008
SQL Server 2008
PKR Poker Application (Quite Graphics intensive)
Watching films (Blu-Ray player would be nice)

It won't be used for gaming, one of the main things I want is a fast response time when I am doing simple things like surfing the internet, switching between applications.

Been looking at Dells, but some of the Sony/Samsungs like pretty cool.

Would also like the ability to connect it to docking station although this isn't a necessity.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Dells are still brilliant value, warranty is excellent.

If you want a dock you'll have to look at the business targeted latitudes instead of the inspirons and studios.

I feared as much - don't want a latitude, I can live without the dock.

I always favoured Dells but noticed how laptops in general have been coming down in price lately so Dell no longer seem as competitive.

I got a Dell Studio 15 in November.

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8400 2.26 GHz
4GB RAM
320GB Hard Drive
Blu-ray Drive
Bluetooth
Backlit keyboard
Artwork cover
3 year in home warranty
cant remember the rest

Paid quite a wack for it but think they have come down in price now.

You can get a kensington docking station with the Studio 15 when I just looked on the dell website.
