This morning on way to work battery light comes on.after work got in car to start it, and the starter motor barely turned engine over before giving up, managed to jump start the car. got home checked alternator belt, is still there and under enough tension. battery holds just over 12 volts, and when car is running alternator is putting power back into battery. has anyone else had the same problem where the light stays on when ignition is on and battery ends up flat??? i'm thinking there's a drain somewhere possibly caused by all the moisture present at the moment??. car is a '93 corsa 1.5td, thanks for any help

sounds like the alternator is fooked mate, is the battery light on all the time??

but when car is running the alternator is appears to be charging the battery

on idle its around 12.8 volts with rasied revs 13/14v etc

Should be 13/14 volts on idle shouldnt it?
