I have only ever heard mine go off once. I was working on the boot lock and when I closed the boot it went off.
No help to you but true story!

thought it was automatic, as soon as u click the lock fully left so it dead locks the light cums on, the motion sensor thing inside is armed by interior light i think, read manual says like if led flashes continuously on if just single flash off or summin like tht, mine goes off when u lock the car bt uve left undone the bonnet catch and u lift it right the way up, most annoying alarm ever lol

You need to change the deadlock ring on the drivers door lock, I did it to mine and my sisters cars over Christmas.
Does your drivers lock only have one locking position, you have to turn it 90 degrees, so the key is horizontal before it locks?

Yea, just buy the parts from vauxhall mate - they're not as cheap as you'd imagine though!
The deadlock ring is quite a complicated bit of metalwork and was £8 so I didn't mind too much about that, but the deadlock roller was about £4 I think, and it is literally a very small bit of steel bar - about 2mm diameter, and 4 mm long complete rip off, but unfortunately when yours broke it probably fell out somewhere - it may be in the bottom of the door, mine was, but my sister wasn't!
Oh, and out of interest, does your car have electric windows? I'd imagine so, but if not the bolts for the window runner are slightly further up the door

Did this a few months back, as the car would no longer deadlock or arm

Mint! Going to get this done asap. After I've fixed it how do I know when the alarm is armed?

the alarm is armed once the drivers door lock is turned to deadlock, it takes around 3 - 5 minutes for the alarm sounder to arm, supposedly to give you time to get evrything you need out the car :S haha, and you may notice on the interior light there is a little button, that is so that you can disable the interior sensor in case you leave a pet in there or whatever

The five minutes delay is great, i lock the car and my gf has 4 minutes to sort her crap out and shut the door whilst i go in and make a cup of tea
