Right.....

That Unichip will NEED to be mapped for your car. A superchip is just (normally) an off the shelf blanket upping of the fueling etc. Not the best solution.

A properly mapped UNICHIP is a good cheap solution for a car needing mapped. Different cams, headwork etc will fit the bill.

BUT its not as good as a standalone mappable ECU. MBE, DTA, Emerald etc.

I had a 1.4 16v with 264deg cams, big manifold etc etc. I made to dumb move of fitting a superchip (customer key). Superchips 'flashed' the ecu...

The car ran better but it wasnt as great as i was expecting.

I then took it to a UNICHIP dealer. Got a remap (with superchip basemap). The difference was like night and day. About 14hp more at the top end, about 20lbft more at the top end, BUT most importantly then torque curve was much better (area under graph was bigger)... more grunt earlier, and smoother.

Getting the car to idle was still an issue though (cams) - so went back to superchips and got the base map flashed for a new idle and rev limit
