can someone explain the danger of not having any water/ antifreeze in a car, i no one, is the engine will get hot in a short space of time.

reason is due to a leak somewhere somewhere along the cooling system.

im topping it up with destilled water every day, until it goes into the garage later this week

any information is very much appreciated

bent cylinder head due to heat and no cooling down !!

Headgasket, warped or cracked head.
Proberly loads more but thats ^^ bad enough.
