is it possible to gain power but keep it sounding standerd as possible,
i didnt think you could do this but i have been told it can be done ?

I wouldn't think so. If you want to make any serious power differences (by serious I mean about 5-10bhp, if that) I'd say you'd need to de-cat it at least and that makes it quite loud. I can't think of any other way you would do it without the exhaust getting louder.

I thought they came with cats from the factory and people can just remove them if they want.
In that case, I'd say it'd be a case of a bigger bore than standard and removing middle boxes and the like. Which is going to make it loud.

you would want to keep the middle box really, otherwise it will be too loud and you will lose alot of back pressure. u want some back pressure

no 20xe's in astra GTE didn't come with a cat

thats why its 20XE, the 'C' is the emission regulation. So, all the C20XE's need cats, but the early ones dont. 20XE, 20SEH, 18E...all early engines with no emissions regulation.
And from then, you have 'C', 'Z' and now 'A' for the emissions category.

Yep, I've got a c20xe with a de-cat. Can't beat the smell of V Power from it.
