Basically i saw this guy at work (who i dont really see anymore) use a command prompt software to ping an entire subnet range(correct term?), and display all the IP address in that subnet. Anyone know what im on about or what such software is called. Also say i know a machines IP address, 172.18.56.101 is there a softwares to find out that machines name etc

We used Angry IP Scanner at the place I used to work, but that's not command line.
It will ping a certain IP address and return the name and sometimes extra info, though, as long as they're on the network.
