my cambelt has stated to wear/rub around the edge facing towards the casing as if its rubbing on something what could it be ? i know i cant leave it to long as it will wear away to nothing and snap and then i will need a new cylinder head and valves and i don't want that to happen

Don't take the risk mate..
2 weeks ago I checked mine due to a stupid little noise. It was going on the outer edge just the same, but the gauges were the opposite way to which it spins.
I just put it down to wear and thought I was lucky that I caught it in time. get a new one on!
