He could use bootcamp and install Windows XP on a 2nd Partition.
or
He could install Parallels which is Virtual PC for MAC. This will allow him to install XP as a VM.

Windows copies are more available via Torrents but yeah, that's what i'd do too.

Mac copies are just as available if you are even slightly competent with a torrent search.

I wouldnt know, it was just a guess - I have never ever searched or downloaded numerous torrents for Mac programmes in the last 4 or 5 years.

So was my post about Windows Software being more popular on torrents than the MACs. Simply assumed with the MAC\Windows ratio there will be more copies for windows.
Technically i am right as there are more Windows copies available but like you said, MAC copies are just as easy to get from the torrent sites.

If your mate can afford to buy a new MacBook then surely he can afford to buy the software to use on it?

plenty of dodgy software out there for mac and freely available on torrents, rapidshare, newsgroups etc. Seems a bit pointless just to dual boot for that.....

TBH if this guy is asking Doyle for advice then he cant be the sharpest pencil in the box.
Im amazed Doyle hasnt taken this as a business opportunity and set up making pirated copies of Mac software.

just acquire new copies from the local torrent store as you would anything else tbh, dual booting with xp is a waste of time in my opinion, I did it and never actually used it.

VMWare or Virtual PC, there's also the option on the intel chipsets to run BootCamp.
BootCamp does run brilliantly though.
