......idea i've had for a little while.
Basically using thing aluminium sheeting, i have constructed a box around my BFO cone. The alumium acts as a kinda heat shield and keeps the air around the air filter nice and cool.
I've also added 4" aluminuim piping as a cold air feed, which comes directly from front bumper. One end of the feed goes into the alu box (nice and sealed) and the other end is funnel shaped to ensure maxium induction of cold air when travelling along.
After a relatively long drive, including some traffic today (quite hot out), i opened the bonnet and felt inside, and the filter itself was nice and cold! Acceleration seems to have improved, and the cone is even louder (as there is now an echo from within the box)
I only have a 1.2 8v, so i believe that this kinda idea would be even more effective on 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v. I realise Matt_C has this kinda thing, so the concept must be good

get some pics in morn!
erm yeah u cud use std cold air feed as well, but i didnt really think that managed to scoop up much cold air? which was wierd as its a vaux part.....i mean the air scoop is not only at 90degrees to the front of the car, but is only 4" x 1", which seemed crap to me.
Yeah Nailz, i'm gonna do me another cold air feed from below the combat i think. More air the better

I have matt_c's old box on mine - and I think its top!
After having the Torq Tube fitted, I lost all the induction noise - but putting the airbox on seems to have made it louder again

Yeah the standard duct is only tiny...something like a big diameter round ducting will be lots better.
