After such along wait, it doesnt seem like it has been breaking any records on release, and seems to get some average reviews.

I'd say it was inbetween the top 2. It's one of the best racing games imo, but was not worth the wait. I can't see 5 years of development, I swear it is a smaller game than GT4?! There seem to be less races anyway...
