Forgot i had this turned on cos i was at home on my wireless network.. Just turned it off cos im worried it will use loads of data..

does it or am i being a prat ??

Wouldnt think it would use loads as everyone these days is on a limited tariff so would be silly for them to design it this way.

Doesnt it use GPS anyway? Ive got it on my Desire but not actually used it yet

just read on a few forums that its about 1mb per day.. so for now im turning it off..

same with a few other bits.. my new contract with 500mb a month doesnt start until 10th so will keep that sort of stuff off for now

GPS only tells the phone where it is. It has to send and receive data to and from Google via 3G.

Unless the application has focus, ie your current application then the data for the maps downloading wont be that great.

Just the data of location back to Google.

Main thing is the batt usage due to the gps on all the time.
