hi as above i have a tigra x14xe, lost the key chip,

if i buy an ECU transponder and chip, will this work?

i'm assuming it will??

Seems cheaper than buying a chip and reprogramming it especially as my car is off the road atm so cant take it to be programmed

Thanks in advance

need help on this subject - if i buy another x16xe same as mine can i just use the transponder etc i already have or would i need another?

the engine i've seen is more pf a race engine and was used with throttle bodies and different management although this doesn't come with the engine i will be using a mantzel inlet.

Would i be able then to use my current ecu, transponer etc? or if i get different management what then?

cheers

as long as you have a matching ecu chip and transponder it will work on any engine mate, not sure what happens when you add aftermarket management, if it takes the ecu out of the equation then the chip and transponder wont matter anymore as its inside the ecu that cuts the engine if the other 2 dont match

on mine i had a p reg 1.2 that has a chip in the key, i swapped the engine over to an l reg sri one (old style ecu without matched chips) and mine works fine with just the ecu from the sri, i.e i still have the transponder and chip in my key from the 1.2 but its not doing anything

if its for the same type of engine it should be ok, the ecu learns about the fueling etc after the engine has been run a few times, hence why people sometimes reset the ecu to fix problems or after fitting a new part

cool thanks guys so it would be fine using it with my current set up (using my ecu with any other 1.6 engine same as mine) then decide about aftermarket management later

what about if its got a c16xe head or block? i still need to find out but was listed as x16xe/c16xe engine

yes mate as long as you have an ecu set for your current engine

not sure about if its got a c16xe, i'm sure they came without the immobiliser in the ecu? (or might have just been early ones?) i.e you wouldnt need the chip and transponder just the ecu

^not sure, but you can always take the chip out of the key and tape it to the transponder, that way if you lose you key you wont need to get another chip coded just get a key cut, but the car can be stolen easier obviously lol
