i upgraded to 7 and stuck with the shit one now, I only want it to show me how many hotmail emails i've got and open them through it. And have an icon in the taskbar instead of a full bar thing

Ok. I imagine it's what you're after, as it sits nicely as a little system tray icon when minimized and will check your hotmail and any other pop3 accounts you add.

If you want to get messenger in the system tray instead of taskbar, you can just change it's compatability mode and set it to "vista mode" shoves it out of the way into the system tray. Sorted

Its Windows Live Messenger Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8117.416) what I'm using.

Also for the new windows live messenger, you can get rid of the annoying screen hogging news panel by clicking on the icon to the right of inbox (switch to compact view).

If you run Windows Live messenger in compatability mode for Vista SP2 it'll act like it should, disapear into the taskbar.

This is the one I use: http://www.filehippo.com/download_msn_messenger/3410/ Can't stnad the new Live messenger. I'm running Win.7 aswell, dont have no problems.
