the threaded holes on the end of a crank, if they become fucked can the be drilled and tapped? 12mm standard, can they go bigger or would it cause problems?

the fly end?
if there bigger. can weaken it
and with torque possibly throw the fly off
possibly helicoil them but even then id be unsure

personally would just replace it with new if in doubt, always wary with these things and reground cranks etc

Drilling bigger holes means removing more material and affecting the weight and would make it out of balance. Same with adding larger bolts.
Doesnt take much to put something off balance
