ET 49 is perfect, you can get away with with et45 without too much trouble if your cars not slammed right down.

If you look at high powered 2.0l Corsas they always have 50's on. The only reason I can think of is they must create slightly less wheelspin because they are a bigger wheel there fore slightly harder to turn, and, they have a bigger rolling circumferance, there for make the car faster (covers more ground with each turn). This doesn't apply to lower powered Corsas because the bigger wheel puts too much extra strain on the engine, there for making it slower.
Look at Lucky B's Corsa, hes on 195/50/15's and Rentons Corsa (Renton of Redline mag) hes on the same. Plus, don't forget, 50's are slightly cheaper than 45's
So you recon ET49 is the ultimate offset then?
What will scrub on the tyres and how will I take care of it? (considering I will be taking 1 or 2 back passengers every once and a while. The car will be on Koni adjustables (-40mm).
Cheers for the repsonse

if you are only putting 15's on (good choice BTW!!) iwould worry too much about getting the perfect offset. A wheel size of 15" will be fine with anything between 45 and 49. You will still encounter minimal tram-lining etc, just make sure you get a decent tyre in the 195/50/15 size. Drew, maybe the reason a 50 is chosen is to help soften the ride a bit over the front wheels, since a heavy 2.0 engine is now in the bay, you dont want your mounts and shafts to get too much of a harsh ride. I cant think of a reason other than why a 50 is chosen over 45.

The new shape sri comes with ET40 16's, i'v got them on my Sxi, they look the nuts because they stick out more, and they also handle more because they are giving the car a wider stance

btw - i wasnt having a go there - was just wondering why

yeah true they are cheap too

as for fitting - i had et45 with 60mm lowering and no rubbing (45 tyres) with rear top 2 bolts removed

49et is ideal, but not many alloy manufactors make a 49 et - usually only 45

Yeah its a shame your handling is suffering. This really is about performance, not styling.

From what I know ET49 on 15's is ideal, yet if you go for bigger wheels then ET45 is about right.

Forget that though, I would have thought that a lower profile would be better, seen as a lower profile would have less give the handling would be improved, with 50 profile tyres they wall will give a slight bit more and with the extra weight of a 2.0l wouldnt the handling suffer even more??
