hi i have recently got my hands on a 1.4 16v ecotec engine for my 1.2 8v corsa, it hasnt come with an ecu, would the ecu i got start the engine until i can get the correct ecu or would it couse me more problems using the ecu ive got? any help be greatful for

no it wont run
when you get an ecu you also eed the key chip to match it

so i wouldnt be able to use my existing keys, as they wont be programmed to the ecu

Depending on the shape of your key may be able to put the chip from the donor key in to yours.
You could also get a new style key cut with your blade and room for the chip.

Could you not just get someone with diagnostics and re program the current keys with the new ecu/immobiliser?

dont no any1 local which is able to diagnostic/re program the ecu. would a normal garage be able to do this? or is it going to be quicker getting an ecu and complete lock set?

Or just buy a unlocked one or one thats been chipped then no need for chip etc

were can i buy an unlocked ecu from, i dont think my car has a chip on the ignition as it p reg and there is no central locking etc

Take it to a Vauxhall dealer they will be able to do it
