Why does the CX engine race to 60mph 0.5secs quicker than the XE engine when the only real difference is 3 or 4 bhp

For eample the current 206 gti has 137bhp 0-60 in 8.4secs
The new one has 178bhp 0-60 in about 7ish which is understandable so why does minus 3 or 4 bhp make so much difference ?

Torque and where in the rev range it's delivered.
The C16XE not only has more power and torque but it produces them at a lower RPM.

in reality thers no differance.me m8's got a c16xe & ive got a x16xe ands theres nowt in it.
