Could be a very useful thing if it was made use of like but you can buy tags and 'program' them. I know of some people who have them on their desk to change it onto a quiet sound profile or one as they get home to enable wifi and stuff.

Had a contactless credit card for well over a year and set to see shops make use of that system even with millions of other credit cards in the system.
Seem to be a bit hampered by the M25 barrier

You can get programmable stickers, I had a test one and I programmed it to turn my phone to silent mode on my work pc so not very useful, sure more could be done and I used google wallet to buy lunch in the co-op.

I set mine to do that without NFC, just another gimmick atm.

I'm still too afraid to put my bank details into this open source software

Google Wallet isn't open source.

Open source software can also be more secure because people can see where the problems are and fix them.

So it's OK to put my card details into both the play store and google wallet? I've genuinely been nervous about doing it...

I'd trust Google more if they were keeping my details in a text file than I trust PayPal or eBay.

I didn't put my card on it yet, I used the $10 free they give you, well gave, I think the promo's ended now. Some funny looks from people working there when I paid too.

Seems like everyday there are reports of android getting hacked, it's not just the play store I'm worried about its what the third party apps may do with those details and how secure stuff like the baking apps are. For example the company I work for, 6th largest bank in the UK refuse to make an android app because of security issues and only a few weeks ago NFC was hacked so youd be naive not to question it.
