Hi, looking for any advice if possible.
Was driving last night, unsure of speed around 60mph in 3rd gear when I heard a loud kind of pop as if a boost pipes burst of a turbocharged car or a water pipe bursting... Put the car in neutral an rolled to a stop, while doing so I heard some loud rattles from within the engine bay.
Here's what I do know;
When turning the key, start motor spins as with flywheel, timing belt doesn't move!
Timing belts not snapped, although unsure if timings slipped at this point.
Engine has oil and water.
Lights on with ignition on;
Battery
Engine
Oil
Thanks

If the belt doesnt move - have you checked the pulleys to see if they move? May have stripped teeth off the belt

Will the engine turnover by hand?

Tried turning it over last night with the cam pulleys and it does turn over, although I don't know if it has compression...
I'm rather confused, only 2 things I'm thinking is I've snapped the crank which I'm thinking is highly unlikely or somehow all the bolts have snapped off the flywheel, an if I'm correct there's 8 so I find that unlikely.

Not had time to look at the car, however the issue will be the woodruff key mustve snapped or something causing the crank pulley to freely spin...
