Took my Gsi out for a spin yesterday, stopped a few places to do a few bits and started up every time, sweet as a nut, then on the way home stopped for some fuel, started up and was a bit chuggy, quick rev sorted that then carried on, didn't quite sound right at about 60, (louder than normal) but never the less was driving ok, then hit traffic and had to slow, as soon as I had done this car didn't want to go above 500 RPM... got it to the hard shoulder and got recovered.
Now heres the issue, the car starts, but will idle at 500rpm. you can push the pedal to the floor and nothing, dip the clutch and its even worse.
more confussing is the fact its gone from no eml warnings to about 12!! surely that cant be right? that was with a paperclip test, will hopefully get it plugged into diagnostics later.
Any ideas, im stumped tbh

cant imagine anything causing all those error codes! i'd look at changing the ECU just to check its not playing up.

Maybe bad earth? That'a often the cause of multiple faults.

Had a look today and the crank pulley seems to wobble, managed to get the revs upto 2k rpm after that revs right round, whilst at 2k the pulley seems to straighten its self up and issues disappear, so looks like that maybe the issue

crank pulley will cause it to misfire and run awful as the crank sensor is relying on it

Just read this mate, had the same problem with my GSI!, big job! take the bottom pulley off and look to see
if it has moved over the little notch it goes on...
If it hasn't you need to then take the cam belt off and remove the crank pulley, this will show if the
wood-rough key in the end of the crank is worn or the crank it's self..
I managed to get a bigger key, file it down and tap the gear back on. hope this helps

Thanks for the info mate, that was going to be next plan,
Do you know a way of removing the crank pulley without a impact gun?
