oh sorry didnt realise m8
i've got the kappa 50.5, they sound very clear and clean. nice vocals and treble maybe a bit lacking in midbass but then again they're only 5".

I'd guess the kappa are more expensive than the references.

In my car Id say references will suffice (and they do!) as Im not an audiophile and don't think Id benefit to much more if i paid more for the kappas.

The kappa do have nicer looking crossovers though don't they, so if you want to display them then go for them, but buying them just for the xover box is trivial!

Up to you and what you want.
