a turbo or tb's? i understood turbos produced more torque but from reading an old post yeserday it seems a tb'd xe would beat the let engine?

Turbo's produce much more torque. A 200bhp tb'd xe is quicker than a 200bhp LET in the same car as the xe has a much wider power band, so can stay on the power for longer.

ah right, because the turbo in the let is quite big its got lag until higher up in the revs?

No, because tb'd cars rev to about 8k, making power all the way.

Is your 1.4sri really 173 bhp? If so I guess its a 16v....

yeah its gotta be a 16v cause i got the 16v and mines making 172BHP

I heard the 1.4 could just about get that figure but the torque would be crap, i heard the 1.6 could reach just over 200bhp?!?!

SBD have had 240bhp out of a c16xe, not really drivable on the road though.

Torque on a 170bhp 1.4 16v would probably be about 120lb/ft at a guess.
