can some one explain the bits in bold?? is this sub any good?? its an audiobahn, and also what sort of wedge am i looking at for a 500rms amp?

rubber surround is the material that the bit between the actual cone and the 'frame' of the sub is made of, usually rubber or foam. Poly cone is the material that the cone is made of, but i dont know which is best (i think a lot depends what you want to use it for) That sub has 2 coils, each with a resistance of 4ohms. Depending how you wire it up, either series or parallel, you will get a different total resistance seen by the amplifier. Smaller resistance means more power, but you have to make sure that the amp can cope with the load. It will usually be advertised as 2ohm stable if it is, as this feature sets them apart from the bottom of the range amp. Hope that helps!

so for that sub what feature would i have to look for the amp?? i.e 2ohm stable.
i'll be mostly using the sub for dance musics, fast beats that sort of thing, but ocasionaly rnb. so what sort of cone will it have to be??

what u want is a monoblock which will give out 1000 watts rms when shown a 2 ohm load.
u can do this by connect the positive and the negative from each voice coil of the sub to the amp and the other 2 u connect to eachother...i think.
someone might have to confirm that with a diagram.

but its only 500rms sub so wont 100rms blow it??

right so i get that sub and an amp that can bang out 1000rms, so that will split into 2 and be 500rms on each coil??

The sub takes 500 WRMS. word. It will not take 500wrms per coil!!
