Just noticed oil leaking from the top of the engine (the yellow part), not massive amounts but looks out of place... How much for a new gasket and where can I get one?
I haven't checked the oil recently, but the engine seems to be getting noisier and slower

if i spotted an oil leak, the first thing id be doing is checking how much oil was left in the car

What is the yellow part ? It's not just leaking oil around the filler cap is it ?

The block head part, no not the oil cap. Its a dull yellow colour.
Checked the oil earlier and its full. Must be something else.

I wasn't quite sure that's why I asked the stupid question first ! Think I know what you mean as the cylinder head on my old 1.4 8v was a bit yellowish from the burnt on rustproofer that had been sprayed on it by Vaux. Sounds like head gasket. Mine had to be done (under warranty luckily) due to a small oil leak along the front. This was running down the cylinder block behind the exhaust manifold and making it oily around the sump. Dealer changed the sump gasket first despite me pointing out the head gasket leak. The leak was not enough to make the oil level go down much but it could only get worse. There was no oil in the water or vice-versa but, just occasionally, the engine would run a bit hot.
Can't help you out with a price to change it but do make sure the head is checked to make sure it's flat and then skimmed if necessary. If this is not done you may have to repeat the job.

Nothing like jumping the gun.
Is this a 1.2 8v? If so is it the very top part of the engine? Probably rocker cover gasket = 10 mins + £4.
