Today my Corsa decided to give up

Was fine until around 1pm when I tried to start her and heard a very loud knocking noise coming from the engine. This got louder as I revved her up. I decided this was not right and switched it off.

On trying to restart, she would not turn over... had to rev it to get it started, but when it did it sounded like a diesel and died.

Maybe I shouldn't have mocked by saying Vauxhall are not expensive... This is surely gonna cost a fortune

Has anyone else had this problem? Sounds like somethings come loose in the cylinder head!! She's in Lookers now, only £60 / hour

Could I get any more depressed...

300 - ish
coz u dont need g/box loom etc
£200 if your lucky

its easyer to change the engine than re-build the bust one
if you can do it yourself and save a few more ££

if ya doing a 1.4 16V you gotta change exactly the same parts pretty much as the 1.6 so you might as well go for that, you engine problem sounds like mine, it sounded head related that was cos the piston was hittin it cos of fooked bottom end, its in for a re-build new pistons etc at the mo, its costing me over 1K

Heres Vauxhalls diagnosis:

Cylinder head has gone, one of the pistons was bent and it was only firing on 3 cylinders... broke cylinder has filled with water causing problems with spark??

get this... £1500 - £2000 estimate to fix

I told them to go fourth and multiply... in a word
