i have a problem with my engine atm. its sounding like a feking subaru. it will be sluggish then judder then pick up and go. its an injection system. ive recently replaced the spark plugs and im wondering if that has anything to do with it.. or weather one of them has come loose maybe. me mate seems to think it could be the coil pack. if so how much will it cost to replace it roughly. ?????

find out which cylinder isnt firing by inspecting the plugs. then trace the problem from there.

Coil packs are prone to going, think they are around 100 notes or there abouts to replace.
As people have mentioned above, check the spark plugs, make sure your firing on all 4, is the header tank ok, no oil in it......running temp of the engine around 88-90 degrees when driving?

Do you have a mate with a 1.2 16v to try swopping the coil pack and AFM over? Obvisously swop each one seperate until you find the cure.
Would be the best option, then you know what to defineatly buy.

how would the afm make it run down on a cylinder?
its likely to be the ht connection block or a faulty plug if they have been messed around with recently. until you get the plugs out its pointless guessing.

take the plugs out and see if they all look the same. if one is clean and wet and smells of petrol then you know that that one isnt firing.
oh, and dont drive the car until you sort it out
