Just attempted to colour code my bumper, it turned out ok, but not really as good as i was hoping. I was just wondering, would it be easy to return them back to what they were like before they were paint ?

Or how much roughly would i be looking to pay from a scrap yard ?

Far cheaper to replace them. Perhaps between £20-50 per bumper.

What about putting a presure washer to it, think that would work ? Then maybe sand it smooth and some bumper care over it ?

bit of time and prep you will be able to make them really good, wouldnt even bother with trying to fix that just sand it back and start again. Looks like the paint has racted to the silicone bassed cleaning products that will have been used on them over the years, so more prep work will be needed

Yea i know next time to sand sand sand untill it is very smooth and all imperfections are removed. Then the primer should sit a little better. I'll leave it as it is for now though as i need the car for Monday. I'll fix it up some other time i think.

Would it be ok to polish it, even though there is no laquer on it at the moment ?

The prep for painting should remove and chemical remnants as well as physical ones. No use sanding smooth if there is still bumper shine left on there for the paint to react to.

I wouldn't polish either, waste of time and money if you are going to do it again. Anything you apply now you will need to fully remove before painting again.

Also - did you prime the bumper before applying the colour?

Yes of course i primed it 5 coats on the front bumper and 3 or 4 on the back on - the back one looks better and can be seen in the project forums.

Thank you Ant! I have been saying all along that it doesn't need laquer, but in my project thread people have been telling me to listen to them and put some laquer on it.

Thanks for clearning that up.

That would of been a good idea

here is a picture of the back bumper, it's much better. Done a better job sanding it because i got some 120 grit from Halfords.

Looks a little yellow but thats just the flash and the reflection
