are the crank pulleys suppose to be hard to get off because all mine is doing when i turn it is making the engine go round?

how do you undo these things, got someone coming to pick up the engine at 4ish, and need to get the cam belt back on

check this out first but I think you can put the ratchet on it and jam it against something then just turn the engine over (dont start it) and it will loosen it.

Well for starters you are supposed to have new crank pulley bolts to refit the bloody thing once you got it off.

Is the engine hooked to a gearbox? Have you put the gearbox in gear to lcok the pulley?

If you have no gearbox connected.... pop off the starter motor and jam the flywheel with something that wont damage the teeth.

What are you using to get it undone?

you will never get it undone with a rachet, you will need a 2 foot long breaker bar at least

lol..even if it has the gearbox attached it will still spin, as the drive isnt being stopped by the wheels.

take the starter off and lock the flywheel.

you'll usually need something more heavy duty than a ratchet though

umm if you have already got the belt off and have been turning it over i would be more worried that you might have damaged the valves !!!
