Ring Microsoft, 3 year warranty on the red light issue. So it should be sorted for nothing.

Still, it shouldn't happen in the first place. It's hardly like they're doing you a favour.

lol that doesnt work , tried like hell to get mine to red ring after i kept getting disk read errors amongst other problems.
rapping it in a towel just gave me 2 red lights ( over heating) had the twatting thing in a towel kept on for 2 days and still didnt red ring, still i sent it away as it was and got a new system sent back.

Wrapping it in a towel makes it work again!
Thats what I've been doing for the last month to mine but it work work forever.
So far I haven't had a 360 last a year, they always seem to get the RRoD in around 9-11 months.

you can also do it online via the xbox homepage at http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/
just click on support on the top right...then on "console repair" on the bottom right. once youve registered your device you can click on request a repair. theres even a special form for the red ring of death. probably quicker than listening to someone at customer services asking if you have checked your power supply, video cable, spoken the magic words over the console etc.

You have to contact UPS yourself then, Microshaft don't do it like they do over the phone.

They are spot on, mine went on a Tuesday. Picked up on a Thursday, had a brand new Xbox on my doorstep the following Tuesday.
Didn't bother to repair it just sent me a new one.

I read that i was something to do with the cooling fans getting clogged with dust ect.
It can also be if youur power cable is not plugged in properly, just check before and if you can on the next one (if you require it) you can buy and add-on fan pack from amazon for a few quid its probly worth it in the long run

You don't get three red lights if the cables aren't connected properly. And isn't the red ring caused by the solder heating up and disconnecting from the wires? Either way, I'm glad I no longer own one

I don't think its to do with overheating, otherwise the towel trick wouldn't work, it'd just make it go pop.
